How it works

1. Activate Orthion's first ability by paying 1 and tapping it, creating a token copy of Diamond Lion with haste.
2. Activate the Diamond Lion token by tapping it, sacrificing it and discarding your hand, adding .
3. When the Diamond Lion token dies, Orthion triggers, untapping itself.
4. Repeat.
5. Once you have infinite mana, you may forego sacrificing the Diamond Lion tokens and/or target any other creature.

This loop transforms Orthion, Hero of Lavabrink into a relentless token-duplication engine by turning its activation cost into a net-positive mana loop. By equipping Orthion with Thornbite Staff, you give the Hero the crucial ability to untap whenever a creature dies—a condition effortlessly met by the Diamond Lion token you create, which sacrifices itself to generate three mana. Each iteration feeds the mana back into Orthion's activated ability while leveraging Thornbite Staff's static trigger to untap Orthion for the next cycle. Once you have generated infinite colored mana, you can pivot to creating infinite copies of any other creature you control with haste.
