How it works

1. At the beginning of your combat phase, Ayara triggers, returning Scourge of the Throne from your graveyard to the battlefield, and giving it haste until end of turn.
2. Declare Scourge of the Throne as an attacker, attacking an opponent whose life total is higher than or equal to yours.
3. Scourge of the Throne's dethrone ability and second abilities trigger.
4. Resolve the second Scourge of the Throne trigger, causing you to untap all attacking creatures and to get an additional combat phase after this one.
5. Holding priority, activate Yahenni by sacrificing Scourge of the Throne.
6. Resolve the second Scourge of the Throne trigger from step 3, doing nothing.
7. Repeat each combat phase.

This cunning loop begins at the start of your combat step, where Ayara, Widow of the Realm pulls Scourge of the Throne straight from your graveyard onto the battlefield with haste. When Scourge of the Throne charges into battle against the player with the most life, its dethrone and attack triggers put an extra combat phase on the stack, which we intercept by using Yahenni, Undying Partisan to sacrifice the Dragon mid-combat to protect it (or simply let the loop reset). Because Ayara can reanimate Scourge of the Throne anew each combat step—and the Dragon's own triggered ability untaps your attackers and grants infinite additional combat phases—you can repeat this lethal dance endlessly while Yahenni, Undying Partisan grows to astronomical proportions from the perpetual cycle of creature sacrifices and deaths.
