How it works

  1. Cast What Must Be Done by paying 3W manaW mana, targeting any historic permanent card in your graveyard.
  2. Holding priority, cast Naru Meha by paying 2U manaU mana.
  3. When Naru Meha enters the battlefield, it triggers, targeting What Must Be Done.
  4. Holding priority, activate Umbral Collar Zealot by sacrificing Naru Meha, putting a +1/+1 counter on Umbral Collar Zealot.
  5. Resolve the Naru Meha trigger, copying What Must Be Done, targeting Naru Meha.
  6. Resolve the copy of What Must Be Done, returning Naru Meha from your graveyard to the battlefield with two +1/+1 counters on it.
  7. Repeat from step 3.

This clever loop turns What Must Be Done into a recursive engine by using Naru Meha, Master Wizard's enter-the-battlefield trigger to continually copy the spell and target Naru Meha itself in the graveyard. Because What Must Be Done returns the legendary wizard to the battlefield as a historic permanent with extra +1/+1 counters, Naru Meha keeps resetting its own copy ability. Meanwhile, Umbral Collar Zealot provides the vital sacrifice outlet to send Naru Meha back to the graveyard right in response, turning the entire cycle into a reliable infinite loop of creature deaths, enter-the-battlefield triggers, and surveil actions.
