How it works

1. Cast Lotus Petal either from your hand or from the top of your library by paying 0
2. Showdown of the Skalds triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on Arcbound Reclaimer.
3. Activate Lotus Petal by tapping and sacrificing it.
4. Activate Arcbound Reclaimer by removing a +1/+1 counter from it, putting Lotus Petal from your graveyard onto the top of your library.
5. Repeat.

This brilliant little loop is fueled by Lotus Petal's ability to sacrifice itself for any color of mana, which then gets recycled right back to the top of your library by Arcbound Reclaimer. To keep that engine running, Arcbound Reclaimer needs a steady supply of +1/+1 counters, a need beautifully met by Showdown of the Skalds whenever you cast a spell. Meanwhile, The Lunar Whale lets you gaze at the top of your library at any time and even play that freshly returned Lotus Petal straight off the top to trigger Showdown of the Skalds all over again.
