How it works

1. Activate the creature by tapping it, dealing damage to an opponent's creature.
2. The opponent's creature dies due to deathtouch, triggering the second ability granted by Thornbite Staff, untapping your creature.
3. Repeat until all opponents' creatures die.
4. Repeat each time a creature enters the battlefield under an opponent's control.

This clever little setup turns any creature into a one-man extermination squad by combining multiple layers of permanent enhancements. You start by granting your creature the tap ability to ping targets using Hermetic Study, while Rune of Mortality steps in to ensure that every single point of damage is lethal with deathtouch. To make the loop self-sustaining, Thornbite Staff equips the creature with both a fallback ping ability and a crucial untap trigger whenever *any* creature bites the dust. Because the damage is instantly fatal, the death triggers Thornbite Staff immediately, untapping your shooter so it can repeat the process until the opposing board is completely wiped clean.
