How it works

1. Activate Phyrexian Altar by sacrificing Lesser Masticore, adding 1.
2. Lesser Masticore dies, triggering its persist ability, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
3. Lesser Masticore enters the battlefield, triggering Remnant of the Rising Star, causing you to pay 1 to put a +1/+1 counter on Lesser Masticore.
4. Repeat.
