How it works

1. Activate Viscera Seer by sacrificing Lesser Masticore.
2. When Lesser Masticore dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
3. Thran Vigil triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on Lesser Masticore.
4. Resolve the Viscera Seer ability.
5. Repeat.

This clever loop turns the mechanical interaction between persistent death and counter-cancellation into an endless engine for your graveyard and board state. When you sacrifice Lesser Masticore to Viscera Seer, it returns via its persist ability with a -1/-1 counter, but the moment it leaves the graveyard, Thran Vigil triggers to place a +1/+1 counter on it. Because state-based actions cause +1/+1 and -1/+1 counters to annihilate each other, Lesser Masticore is left completely clean of counters and ready to be sacrificed all over again.
