How it works

1. Activate Bartolomé del Presidio by sacrificing Lesser Masticore.
2. When Lesser Masticore dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
3. Thran Vigil triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on Lesser Masticore.
4. Resolve the Bartolomé del Presidio ability.
5. Repeat.

This loop turns a simple sacrifice into an engine of endless growth by exploiting the natural cancellation of opposing counters. When you feed Lesser Masticore to Bartolomé del Presidio, its persist ability brings it right back with a -1/-1 counter, but Thran Vigil immediately swoops in to neutralize that penalty by placing a +1/+1 counter whenever the Masticore leaves your graveyard. Because +1/+1 and -1/-1 counters annihilate each other through state-based actions, Lesser Masticore is completely cleared of counters and ready to be sacrificed all over again.
