How it works

1. Activate Carrion Feeder by sacrificing Lesser Masticore
2. When Lesser Masticore dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
3. When Lesser Masticore enters, Stalwart Successor triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on Lesser Masticore
4. Resolve the Carrion Feeder ability.
5. Repeat.

This clever loop turns Lesser Masticore into an endless sacrifice engine by turning its drawback into a net positive. When Lesser Masticore dies and returns via persist with a -1/+1 counter, Stalwart Successor immediately notices the new counters and places a +1/+1 counter on it as its triggered ability resolves. Because the game treats these opposing counters as state-based actions that immediately cancel each other out, Lesser Masticore enters the graveyard completely clean of counters every time Carrion Feeder sends it back there. As Carrion Feeder continues to happily devour the mechanical beast over and over, you reap an endless harvest of sacrifice triggers, graveyard entries, and massive +1/+1 counters.
