How it works

1. Activate Phyrexian Altar by sacrificing Lesser Masticore, adding one mana of any color.
2. When Lesser Masticore dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a +1/+1 counter on it due to Curator Beastie.
3. Repeat.

This brilliant loop turns Lesser Masticore into an endless engine of sacrifice and rebirth, fueled by the mana-generating engine of Phyrexian Altar. Normally, the persist mechanic would place a crippling -1/-1 counter on Lesser Masticore to prevent it from coming back a second time, but the passive pump from Curator Beastie neatly counteracts this by granting entering colorless creatures two additional +1/+1 counters—instantly neutralizing the -1/-1 counter via state-based actions. This allows Lesser Masticore to loop infinitely through the graveyard, generating an endless supply of colored mana and triggering every death and entry effect you could possibly desire.
