How it works

1. Activate Umbral Collar Zealot by sacrificing Lesser Masticore.
2. When Lesser Masticore dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
3. When Lesser Masticore enters the battlefield, Captain Storm triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on Lesser Masticore.
4. Resolve the Umbral Collar Zealot ability.
5. Repeat.

This intricate engine turns Lesser Masticore into an immortal loop by pairing its persist mechanic with Conspiracy set to name "Pirate," which ensures that Captain Storm, Cosmium Raider always has a valid target to reward every artifact entering the battlefield. By sacrificing Lesser Masticore to Umbral Collar Zealot, you send it to the graveyard only for it to crawl right back with a -1/-1 counter, which is immediately canceled out by the +1/+1 counter granted by Captain Storm, Cosmium Raider's trigger. This leaves Lesser Masticore completely clean of counters and ready to be sacrificed all over again, fueling Umbral Collar Zealot's surveil ability infinitely.
