How it works

1. Activate Shilgengar by sacrificing Lesser Masticore
2. When Lesser Masticore dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
3. When Lesser Masticore enters, Serra Redeemer triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on Lesser Masticore
4. Resolve the Shilgengar ability.
5. Repeat.

This loop relies on Shilgengar, Sire of Famine acting as the engine that repeatedly feeds on Lesser Masticore to generate Blood tokens. Whenever Lesser Masticore dies, its persist ability normally brings it back with a -1/-1 counter, but Serra Redeemer steps in with its passive ability to immediately counteract that penalty by placing two +1/+1 counters on it upon re-entry. Because state-based actions instantly cancel out the +1/+1 and -1/-1 counters, Lesser Masticore is left clean and ready to be sacrificed to Shilgengar, Sire of Famine all over again.
