How it works

1. Activate Thermopod's second ability by sacrificing Lesser Masticore, adding .
2. When Lesser Masticore dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a +1/+1 counter on it due to Curator Beastie.
3. Repeat.

This loop turns a simple sacrifice outlet into an infinite mana engine by exploiting how counters interact on resurrection. When you feed Lesser Masticore to Thermopod, its persist ability triggers to bring it right back from the graveyard. Normally, the -1/-1 counter from persist would eventually lock the Masticore out of returning, but Curator Beastie's static ability steps in to ensure it enters with two additional +1/+1 counters instead—instantly neutralizing the negative counter through state-based actions. This infinite cycle of sacrifice and rebirth lets Thermopod endlessly pump out red mana alongside boundless creature entry, death, and sacrifice triggers.
