How it works

1. Activate Thermopod by sacrificing Lesser Masticore.
2. When Lesser Masticore dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
3. When Lesser Masticore enters, Mm'menon triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on Lesser Masticore.
4. Repeat.

This clever loop transforms the mechanical friction of persistent death into an endless engine of creation and sacrifice, fueled by Thermopod to steadily pour infinite red mana into your pool. The key to neutralizing Lesser Masticore's fatal flaw lies in Mm'menon, Uthros Exile, whose passive trigger reacts to every artifact entrance by tossing a +1/+1 counter onto a creature. Because Lesser Masticore is both an artifact creature and equipped with persist, that incoming counter instantly annihilates the -1/+1 counter it would normally revive with, resetting the creature completely and allowing Thermopod to sacrifice it over and over again without running out of life.
