How it works

  1. Activate Atog by sacrificing Lesser Masticore.
  2. When Lesser Masticore dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
  3. When Lesser Masticore enters, Mm'menon triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on Lesser Masticore.
  4. Resolve the Atog ability.
  5. Repeat.

This clever loop centers around Lesser Masticore, which is naturally equipped with persist to keep returning from the graveyard, though it normally cancels itself out with a -1/-1 counter. Enter Mm'menon, Uthros Exile, whose triggered ability steps in whenever any artifact enters to place a +1/+1 counter on a creature—instantly neutralizing that -1/-1 counter through the rules of state-based actions via counter cancellation and allowing the Masticore to persist indefinitely. To fuel this endless cycle, Atog acts as the sacrificial outlet that puts the Masticore into the graveyard in the first place while reaping the benefits of an infinitely large creature.
