How it works

1. Activate Umbral Collar Zealot by sacrificing Lesser Masticore.
2. When Lesser Masticore dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a +1/+1 counter on it due to Curator Beastie.
3. Resolve the Umbral Collar Zealot ability, putting a +1/+1 counter on it.
4. Repeat.

This ingenious loop turns Umbral Collar Zealot into a tireless engine by feeding it Lesser Masticore over and over. Normally, persist would bring Lesser Masticore back with a debilitating -1/-1 counter, but the static bonus from Curator Beastie ensures it instead enters with extra +1/+1 counters that immediately cancel out any persist penalties. This endless cycle of sacrifice and resurrection allows Umbral Collar Zealot to endlessly surveil your library while generating infinite leaves-the-battlefield, enters-the-battlefield, and death triggers.
