How it works

1. Activate Altar of Dementia by sacrificing Ashcloud Phoenix.
2. When Ashcloud Phoenix dies, it triggers, returning itself from your graveyard to the battlefield face down.
3. When Ashcloud Phoenix enters the battlefield, Intruder Alarm triggers, untapping all creatures.
4. Resolve the Altar of Dementia ability, causing target player to mill cards equal to Ashcloud Phoenix's power.
5. Activate Skirk Alarmist by tapping it, turning Ashcloud Phoenix face up.
6. Repeat.

This loop is a masterclass in recycling your threats through the graveyard, fueled entirely by the clever looping of Ashcloud Phoenix. You begin by sending the Phoenix to the graveyard via Altar of Dementia, which triggers its ability to return to the battlefield face down. That entry immediately triggers Intruder Alarm, untapping all creatures—including Skirk Alarmist, which you then tap to turn the Phoenix back face up. Turning the Phoenix face up triggers its 2 damage to each player, but more importantly, it resets the creature so you can sacrifice it to the Altar once again to mill your opponent out completely.
