How it works

1. Activate Phyrexian Altar by sacrificing Ashcloud Phoenix, adding .
2. When Ashcloud Phoenix dies, it triggers, returning itself from your graveyard to the battlefield face-down.
3. Activate Ixidor by paying , turning Ashcloud Phoenix face up.
4. Repeat.

This clever loop turns Ashcloud Phoenix's unique revival ability into an endless engine by using Phyrexian Altar to sacrifice the Phoenix for mana whenever it hits the graveyard. Once in the graveyard, the Phoenix naturally returns to the battlefield face-down, setting the stage for Ixidor, Reality Sculptor to flip it back face-up using his activated ability. Because Zirda, the Dawnwaker reduces the cost of that flip to just a single blue mana, you can infinitely cycle the Phoenix through death, resurrection, and transformation while generating a continuous stream of sacrifice triggers.
