How it works

1. Activate Tortured Existence by paying and discarding a creature card, returning another creature card from your graveyard to your hand.
2. Insidious Roots triggers, creating a creature token and putting a +1/+1 counter on each Plant you control.
3. Activate Umbral Collar Zealot by sacrificing the creature token.
4. When the creature token dies, Pitiless Plunderer triggers, creating a Treasure token.
5. Resolve the Umbral Collar Zealot ability.
6. Activate a Treasure by tapping and sacrificing it, adding .
7. Repeat.

This recursive engine turns a simple graveyard swap into a self-sustaining loop by leveraging a clever web of triggers. When you use Tortured Existence to discard a creature and retrieve another, Insidious Roots instantly reacts to that card leaving your graveyard by spawning a Plant token and growing your board with +1/+1 counters. You can then feed that token to Umbral Collar Zealot to surveil your library, which triggers Pitiless Plunderer to generate a Treasure token. Sacrificing that Treasure yields the black mana needed to fuel Tortured Existence all over again, letting you endlessly churn your creature cards while accumulating infinite sacrifices, deaths, and growing Plant tokens.
