How it works

  1. Cast Banishing Knack by paying U mana, targeting a Bird, Rat, Otter and/or Frog you control that does not have summoning sickness.
  2. Valley Floodcaller triggers, giving Birds, Otters, Frogs and Rats you control +1/+1 until end of turn and untapping them.
  3. Resolve Banishing Knack.
  4. Cast Grim Monolith by paying its mana cost.
  5. Valley Floodcaller triggers, giving Birds, Otters, Frogs and Rats you control +1/+1 until end of turn and untapping them.
  6. Activate Grim Monolith by tapping it, adding CCC.
  7. Activate the creature targeted by Banishing Knack by tapping it, returning Grim Monolith from the battlefield to your hand.
  8. Repeat from step 4.

This loop turns an unassuming trio into an explosive mana engine by weaponizing the unique properties of Grim Monolith alongside a clever twist on bouncing and recasting. With Valley Floodcaller on the field, your noncreature spells gain flash and actively untap your eligible creatures—specifically Birds, Frogs, Otters, and Rats—whenever you cast one, which also gives them a nice power and toughness boost for good measure. By using Banishing Knack to grant your creature the ability to tap and bounce a nonland permanent, you can continuously pluck the recently-cast Grim Monolith back to your hand. Tapping Grim Monolith for three colorless mana pays to recast it, while the ensuing Valley Floodcaller trigger untaps your bouncing creature so you can repeat the process and generate infinite colorless mana, infinite storm, and infinitely huge creatures.
