How it works

1. Activate Phyrexian Altar by sacrificing Wurmcoil Engine, adding .
2. When Wurmcoil Engine dies, it and Susurian Voidborn trigger.
3. Resolve the Wurmcoil Engine trigger, creating two 3/3 Wurm artifact creature tokens.
4. Resolve the Susurian Voidborn trigger, causing you to gain 1 life and an opponent to lose 1 life.
5. Activate Phyrexian Altar twice by sacrificing the Wurm tokens, adding .
6. When the Wurms die, Susurian Voidborn trigger twice, causing you to gain 2 life and an opponent to lose 2 life.
7. Activate Chainer by paying and 3 life, putting Wurmcoil Engine from your graveyard onto the battlefield.
8. Repeat.

This ingenious loop uses Chainer, Dementia Master to constantly pull Wurmcoil Engine out of the graveyard and back to the battlefield, fueled by the mana generated when Phyrexian Altar sacrifices both the engine and the tokens it leaves behind. Because Chainer turns every creature he reanimates into a Nightmare, their subsequent deaths trigger Susurian Voidborn to drain your opponents' life totals while simultaneously offsetting the life you pay to Chainer's ability.
