How it works

  1. Cast Walk the Aeons by paying 4U manaU mana.
  2. Jin-Gitaxias triggers, copying Walk the Aeons.
  3. Holding priority, cast Venser by paying 2U manaU mana.
  4. When Venser enters the battlefield, it triggers twice, returning itself and the original Walk the Aeons to your hand from the battlefield and stack respectively.
  5. Resolve the copy of Walk the Aeons, causing you to take an extra turn after this one.
  6. Repeat each turn.

This elegant loop sets up a complete lock and endless sequence of turns by leveraging Jin-Gitaxias, Progress Tyrant to double your spells while routinely disrupting your opponents. By casting Walk the Aeons, you secure an extra turn while Jin-Gitaxias conveniently generates a free copy to resolve. Before that copy resolves, flashing in Venser, Shaper Savant is supercharged by Naban, Dean of Iteration; Naban's presence doubles Venser's entry trigger, allowing you to neatly bounce both Venser and the original Walk the Aeons back to your hand to recast on subsequent turns. Meanwhile, Jin-Gitaxias's passive ability stands guard, automatically countering the first artifact, instant, or sorcery your opponents attempt to cast each turn to keep them entirely helpless.
