How it works

1. Cast Fake Your Own Death by paying 1, targeting any creature.
2. Holding priority, cast Dualcaster Mage by paying 1.
3. When Dualcaster Mage enters the battlefield, it triggers, copying Fake Your Own Death, targeting Dualcaster Mage.
4. Resolve the copy of Fake Your Own Death.
5. Holding priority, activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing Dualcaster Mage, adding CC.
6. When Dualcaster Mage dies, it triggers, returning itself from your graveyard to the battlefield and creating a Treasure token.
7. Repeat from step 3.

This clever loop starts by casting Fake Your Own Death on any creature, then dropping Dualcaster Mage to copy that very spell onto itself. Once Dualcaster Mage is protected by its own pseudo-undying effect, you feed it directly into Ashnod's Altar to generate colorless mana. The resulting death trigger dutifully returns Dualcaster Mage to the battlefield alongside a freshly minted Treasure token, automatically triggering its entry ability all over again to keep the cycle going.
