How it works
- Cost Not Dead After All by paying , targeting a creature you control.
- Holding priority, cast Dualcaster Mage by paying 1.
- When Dualcaster Mage enters the battlefield, it triggers, copying Not Dead After All, with the copy targeting Dualcaster Mage.
- Resolve the copy of Not Dead After All.
- Holding priority, activate Bartolomé del Presidio by sacrificing Dualcaster Mage.
- When Dualcaster Mage dies, it triggers, returning itself from your graveyard to the battlefield with a Wicked Role token attached to it.
- When Dualcaster Mage enters the battlefield, it triggers, copying Not Dead After All, with the copy targeting Dualcaster Mage.
- Resolve the copy of Not Dead After All.
- Resolve the Bartolomé del Presidio ability, putting a +1/+1 counter on it.
- Activate Bartolomé del Presidio by sacrificing Dualcaster Mage.
- When Dualcaster Mage dies, it and the Wicked Role token attached to it trigger.
- Resolve the Wicked Role trigger, causing each opponent to lose 1 life.
- Resolve the Dualcaster Mage trigger, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a Wicked Role token attached to it.
- Repeat from step 7.
This clever loop transforms a simple interaction into an infinite engine by using Dualcaster Mage to continuously copy its own resurrection spell. You begin by casting Not Dead After All to place a delayed return trigger on a creature, then interrupt it with Dualcaster Mage so its enters-the-battlefield ability copies the spell right back onto the Mage itself. From there, Bartolomé del Presidio acts as the sacrifice outlet that sends Dualcaster Mage to the graveyard, triggering its return to the battlefield—which in turn triggers another copy of Not Dead After All to keep the cycle going. As the Mage repeatedly enters and dies, the Wicked Role token it brings along also hits the graveyard on subsequent deaths, draining your opponents' life totals while growing Bartolomé del Presidio into an infinitely massive threat.
