How it works

  1. Cast Abnormal Endurance by paying its mana cost.
  2. Holding priority, cast Dualcaster Mage by paying its mana cost.
  3. When Dualcaster Mage enters, it triggers, copying Abnormal Endurance, with the copy targeting Dualcaster Mage.
  4. Resolve the copy of Abnormal Endurance.
  5. Holding priority, activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing Dualcaster Mage.
  6. When Dualcaster Mage dies, it triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield.
  7. Repeat from step 3.

This ingenious little loop uses Dualcaster Mage to target its own enabler, creating an engine of recursive self-preservation. When Dualcaster Mage enters the battlefield, its triggered ability targets the Abnormal Endurance you've already cast, copying the spell to grant itself a delayed resurrection trigger. From there, you simply feed Dualcaster Mage to Ashnod's Altar; the resulting death triggers the delayed return effect from Abnormal Endurance, bringing the Mage right back to the battlefield to copy the original spell all over again. Because Ashnod's Altar yields two colorless mana upon each sacrifice while fueling the loop infinitely, you are left with boundless sacrifices, triggers, and mana to secure your victory.
