How it works

1. Cast Presumed Dead by paying its mana cost.
2. Holding priority, cast Dualcaster Mage by paying its mana cost.
3. When Dualcaster Mage enters, it triggers, copying Presumed Dead, with the copy targeting Dualcaster Mage.
4. Resolve the copy of Presumed Dead.
5. Holding priority, activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing Dualcaster Mage.
6. When Dualcaster Mage dies, it triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield.
7. Repeat from step 3.

This clever loop turns Ashnod's Altar into an infinite mana and trigger engine by trapping Dualcaster Mage in an unceasing cycle of life and death. The magic begins when you cast Presumed Dead and interrupt it with Dualcaster Mage, whose entry trigger copies the spell to target itself. From there, sacrificing Dualcaster Mage to Ashnod's Altar triggers the delayed effect granted by the copy of Presumed Dead, which immediately returns the Mage to the battlefield to copy the spell all over again.
