How it works

1. Cast Return to Action by paying its mana cost.
2. Holding priority, cast Dualcaster Mage by paying its mana cost.
3. When Dualcaster Mage enters, it triggers, copying Return to Action, with the copy targeting Dualcaster Mage.
4. Resolve the copy of Return to Action.
5. Holding priority, activate Phyrexian Altar by sacrificing Dualcaster Mage.
6. When Dualcaster Mage dies, it triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield.
7. Repeat from step 3.

This clever loop turns a modest instant and a wizard into a self-sustaining engine, fueled by the ultimate sacrifice outlet. When you cast Return to Action and flash in Dualcaster Mage, the mage's entry trigger copies the spell right back onto itself, establishing a deferred resurrection clause. You then feed Dualcaster Mage to Phyrexian Altar to generate a mana of any color while sending the mage to the graveyard. That death immediately fulfills Return to Action's delayed trigger, returning the mage to the battlefield to copy the original spell once more and repeat the entire cycle indefinitely.
