How it works

  1. Cast Persist by paying its mana cost, targeting any applicable target.
  2. Holding priority, cast Dualcaster Mage by paying its mana cost.
  3. When Dualcaster Mage enters, it and Blasting Station trigger, with Dualcaster Mage targeting Persist.
  4. Resolve the Blasting Station trigger, untapping it.
  5. Holding priority, activate Blasting Station by tapping it and sacrificing Dualcaster Mage.
  6. Resolve the Dualcaster Mage trigger, copying Persist, with the copy targeting Dualcaster Mage
  7. Resolve the Persist copy, returning Dualcaster Mage from your graveyard to the battlefield.
  8. Repeat from step 3.

This ingenious loop hinges on a recursive resurrection engine: you cast Persist to pull a creature from the yard, but interrupting it with Dualcaster Mage's entry trigger lets you copy the original spell to target the Mage itself. Because Persist returns creatures with a -1/-1 counter, you can't rely on traditional persist mechanics, which is why sacrificing Dualcaster Mage to Blasting Station's activated ability is so vital to send it back to the graveyard. Meanwhile, every time Dualcaster Mage re-enters the battlefield, Blasting Station's passive triggered ability untaps itself in response, allowing you to continually recast the Mage with the copied Persist and blast your opponents' faces to cinders.
