How it works

1. Cast Return to Action by paying its mana cost.
2. Holding priority, cast Dualcaster Mage by paying its mana cost.
3. When Dualcaster Mage enters, it triggers, copying Return to Action, with the copy targeting Dualcaster Mage.
4. Resolve the copy of Return to Action.
5. Holding priority, activate Altar of Dementia by sacrificing Dualcaster Mage.
6. When Dualcaster Mage dies, it triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield.
7. Repeat from step 3.
8. Resolve all Altar of Dementia abilities from step 5.

This clever loop sets up an infinite mill engine by exploiting a recursive targeting loop with Dualcaster Mage. Whenever Dualcaster Mage enters the battlefield, its triggered ability copies Return to Action, which in turn targets Dualcaster Mage itself to ensure it comes right back when it dies. Altar of Dementia provides the crucial sacrifice outlet that triggers this return while immediately turning each iteration into massive targeted mill based on the Mage's power.
