How it works

1. Cast Unsubstantiate by paying its mana cost.
2. Holding priority, cast Dualcaster Mage without paying its mana cost due to Aluren.
3. When Dualcaster Mage enters, it triggers, copying Unsubstantiate, targeting Dualcaster Mage.
4. Resolve the Unsubstantiate copy, returning Dualcaster Mage from the battlefield to your hand.
5. Repeat from step 2.

This clever loop turns your low-cost toolkit into a self-sustaining engine by letting Aluren bypass mana costs and restrictions for small creatures altogether. You initiate the cycle by casting Unsubstantiate, then slide Dualcaster Mage right onto the battlefield at instant speed thanks to Aluren's static ability. When Dualcaster Mage enters, its triggered ability targets the original Unsubstantiate, creating a copy that bounces Dualcaster Mage right back to your hand so you can recast it for free and repeat the entire process indefinitely.
