How it works
- If Grim Poppet has any -1/-1 counters on it, activate it by removing a -1/-1 counter from it.
- Repeat step 1 as necessary until Grim Poppet has no -1/-1 counters on it.
- Activate Extruder by sacrificing Grim Poppet.
- When Grim Poppet dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
- Resolve the Extruder ability.
- Repeat.
- Resolve all Grim Poppet abilities, putting infinite -1/-1 counters on any number of creatures.
This loop turns Eirdu, Carrier of Dawn // Isilu, Carrier of Twilight into an engine of continuous recycling by utilizing its back face's grant of persist to keep Grim Poppet coming back for more. As Grim Poppet strips its own -1/-1 counters away to place them on other creatures, Extruder steps in to sacrifice the exhausted puppet, letting persist return it to the battlefield with a fresh slate of counters while Extruder simultaneously places a +1/+1 counter elsewhere to clean up any unwanted buildup.
