How it works

1. Activate Pheres-Band Tromper by tapping it, adding 1.
2. Activate Pheres-Band Tromper by paying 1 and putting a -1/-1 counter on it, untapping it.
3. Pheres-Band Tromper triggers, putting two +1/+1 counters on it.
4. Repeat.

This clever setup turns Pheres-Band Tromper into a self-sustaining engine by bypassing its natural untap restriction using Sinking Feeling's activated ability. Thanks to Cryptolith Rite, tapping the Tromper helps fund its own untap cost, while Shang-Chi, Martial Mentor steps in to double the resulting +1/+1 counters. Because Shang-Chi's replacement effect yields more counters than the -1/+1 counter removes, you rapidly grow the Tromper's power and toughness to arbitrarily large proportions.
