How it works

1. Activate Emiel the Blessed by paying 3, blinking Sage of Hours and causing it to enter the battlefield with five or more +1/+1 counters on it due to Bloodspore Thrinax.
2. Activate Sage of Hours by removing all +1/+1 counters from it, causing you to take at least one extra turn after this one.
3. Repeat each turn.

This dazzling loop turns Emiel the Blessed into a relentless engine for temporal manipulation by repeatedly blinking Sage of Hours. Thanks to Bloodspore Thrinax sitting quietly on the battlefield, its devour and static counter-multiplying abilities ensure that Sage of Hours always returns with the exact stash of five or more +1/+1 counters it needs. You then cash in those counters to take infinite extra turns, locking your opponents out of the game entirely.
