How it works

1. Cast Whitemane Lion by paying 0 and 2 life due to Defiler of Faith and Helm of Awakening.
2. Defiler of Faith triggers, creating a 1/1 Soldier creature token.
3. When the Soldier enters, Verdant Sun's Avatar triggers, causing you to gain life.
4. Resolve Whitemane Lion. When it enters, it and Verdant Sun's Avatar trigger.
5. Resolve the Whitemane Lion trigger, returning it from the battlefield to your hand.
6. Resolve the Verdant Sun's Avatar trigger, causing you to gain life.
7. Repeat.

This clever loop relies on a brilliant reduction of mana costs, allowing you to cast Whitemane Lion for zero mana by combining the cost-reducers on Defiler of Faith and Helm of Awakening. Because the Lion has flash, it can repeatedly bounce itself back to your hand upon entering the battlefield, resetting the cycle while Defiler of Faith creates a steady stream of 1/1 Soldier tokens. Every time one of those tokens or the Lion itself enters the battlefield, Verdant Sun's Avatar steps in to replenish your life total, easily offsetting the life paid to power the Defiler's cost reduction.
