How it works

1. Cast Whitemane Lion by paying 0 and 2 life due to Defiler of Faith and Pearl Medallion.
2. Defiler of Faith triggers, creating a 1/1 Soldier creature token.
3. When the Soldier enters, Verdant Sun's Avatar triggers, causing you to gain life.
4. Resolve Whitemane Lion. When it enters, it and Verdant Sun's Avatar trigger.
5. Resolve the Whitemane Lion trigger, returning it from the battlefield to your hand.
6. Resolve the Verdant Sun's Avatar trigger, causing you to gain life.
7. Repeat.

This brilliant engine achieves an infinite loop by casting Whitemane Lion for free, leveraging Pearl Medallion and Defiler of Faith to completely eliminate its mana cost while the latter's life-payment ability offsets the cost reduction. Every iteration of this cycle triggers Defiler of Faith to muster a fresh Soldier token, which in turn feeds Verdant Sun's Avatar to continuously restore your life total. Because Whitemane Lion's own entry triggers its ability to bounce itself back to your hand, the whole sequence can be repeated endlessly for boundless enter-the-battlefield, leave-the-battlefield, and lifegain triggers.
