How it works

1. Cast Whitemane Lion by paying 0 and 2 life due to Defiler of Faith and The Wind Crystal.
2. Defiler of Faith triggers, creating a 1/1 Soldier creature token.
3. When the Soldier enters, Verdant Sun's Avatar triggers, causing you to gain life.
4. Resolve Whitemane Lion. When it enters, it and Verdant Sun's Avatar trigger.
5. Resolve the Whitemane Lion trigger, returning it from the battlefield to your hand.
6. Resolve the Verdant Sun's Avatar trigger, causing you to gain life.
7. Repeat.

This clever loop relies on reducing the cost of Whitemane Lion down to absolute zero, allowing you to cast it repeatedly from your hand. Defiler of Faith handles this mana discount by trading your life total for white mana, while The Wind Crystal shaves off an additional generic mana and doubles every drop of life you gain. Each time the Lion enters the battlefield, it bounces itself back to your hand while simultaneously triggering Verdant Sun's Avatar, which rewards you with massive chunks of doubled life. Meanwhile, Defiler of Faith capitalized on that very casting by stamping out an endless army of Soldier tokens, which in turn trigger Verdant Sun's Avatar yet again to keep the life-pumping engine running indefinitely.
