How it works
At the beginning of your upkeep, Second Chance and Purgatory's second ability trigger.
Resolve the Second Chance trigger, causing you to sacrifice it and take an extra turn after this one.
When Second Chance dies, Purgatory's first ability triggers, exiling it.
Resolve the Purgatory trigger from step 1, causing you to pay 4 and 2 life to return Second Chance from exile to the battlefield.
Activate Ajani Goldmane's first ability by putting a loyalty counter on it, causing you to gain 2 life.
Repeat each turn.
This ingenious loop hinges on Opalescence turning your Second Chance into a creature, allowing Purgatory to intercept it when it goes to the graveyard and stash it safely in exile rather than letting it rest in peace. Once your upkeep rolls around, you can feed Purgatory the {4} and 2 life it demands to return Second Chance right back to the battlefield, repeating the process indefinitely. Meanwhile, Ajani Goldmane steps in as your vital lifeblood, offsetting the life payments with his first ability to keep you safely at or below the 5-life threshold required to trigger Second Chance turn after turn.
