How it works

1. Activate Phyrexian Altar by sacrificing Visionary Augmenter.
2. When Visionary Augmenter dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
3. When Visionary Augmenter enters, its fabricate ability triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on it.
4. Repeat.

This clever loop hinges on the transformational flexibility of Eirdu, Carrier of Dawn // Isilu, Carrier of Twilight, whose back face grants your other nontoken creatures persist to keep the cycle going. By sacrificing Visionary Augmenter to Phyrexian Altar, you generate a mana and trigger its return via persist, bringing it back with a -1/-1 counter. Crucially, Visionary Augmenter's fabricate ability lets you choose to place a +1/+1 counter on it as it re-enters, which immediately neutralizes the existing -1/-1 counter through state-based actions. This resets the creature with a clean slate, allowing you to feed it back into the Altar for infinite mana and death triggers.
