How it works

1. Activate Thermopod by sacrificing Visionary Augmenter.
2. When Visionary Augmenter dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
3. When Visionary Augmenter enters, its fabricate ability triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on it.
4. Repeat.

This loop hinges on Isilu, Carrier of Twilight's passive grant of persist to your other nontoken creatures, which sets up a self-sustaining cycle of sacrifice and rebirth. By sacrificing Visionary Augmenter to Thermopod, you generate red mana while triggering the creature's persist ability to return it to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter. Because Visionary Augmenter's fabricate 2 ability triggers upon re-entry, you can place a +1/+1 counter on it that immediately cancels out the existing -1/-1 counter through state-based actions, leaving the creature clean and ready to be sacrificed to Thermopod all over again. While Eirdu, Carrier of Dawn provides convoke for your creature spells on the reverse side, this particular engine uses Isilu's persistent resurrection alongside Thermopod's sacrifice outlet to endlessly farm death triggers and red mana.
