How it works
- Activate Reassembling Skeleton by paying 1, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield.
- Activate Umbral Collar Zealot by sacrificing Reassembling Skeleton.
- When Reassembling Skeleton is sacrificed, Szarel triggers, putting a number of +1/+1 counters equal to Szarel's power on Crystalline Crawler.
- Resolve the Umbral Collar Zealot ability.
- Activate Crystalline Crawler twice by removing two +1/+1 counters from it, adding 1.
- Repeat.
This loop is a masterclass in recycling, turning a humble skeletal recursion into an engine for infinite colored mana, death triggers, and surveil. The cycle is powered by Reassembling Skeleton constantly returning from the graveyard, fueled by the mana generated when Crystalline Crawler sheds the very +1/+1 counters gifted to it. Crucially, Szarel, Genesis Shepherd acts as the multiplier; whenever Umbral Collar Zealot sacrifices the Skeleton, Szarel translates its own power into a massive influx of counters onto the Crawler to keep the chain going.
