How it works

1. Cast Whitemane Lion by paying 0 and 2 life due to Defiler of Faith and Helm of Awakening.
2. Defiler of Faith triggers, creating a 1/1 Soldier creature token.
3. When the Soldier enters, Kambal triggers, causing you to gain life.
4. Resolve Whitemane Lion. When it enters, it and Kambal trigger.
5. Resolve the Whitemane Lion trigger, returning it from the battlefield to your hand.
6. Resolve the Kambal trigger, causing you to gain life.
7. Repeat.

This loop achieves infinity by turning Whitemane Lion into a completely free, self-returning spell: with Helm of Awakening reducing its generic cost by {1} and Defiler of Faith discounting the remaining white mana in exchange for 2 life, you can cast the Lion for no mana at all. Every time you cast it, Defiler of Faith triggers to produce a 1/1 white Soldier creature token, which in turn causes Kambal, Profiteering Mayor to drain your opponents and pad your life total. Finally, when the Whitemane Lion enters the battlefield, its own ability forces you to return a creature—safely picking up the Lion itself—so you can recast it endlessly and repeat the cycle.
