How it works

1. Activate Heartless Hidetsugu by tapping it, dealing damage to each opponent equal to half their life total, rounded down, times 2, and dealing no damage to you due to Pariah's Shield.

This explosive loop centers on Heartless Hidetsugu, whose tap ability naturally halves each player's life total, but with Gratuitous Violence sitting on the battlefield, that damage is instantly doubled to wipe out any opponent with an even life total. To keep you from sharing that devastating fate, Pariah's Shield is equipped to redirect all the damage you would take right back onto Heartless Hidetsugu instead. Because the damage dealt to the creature is also doubled by Gratuitous Violence, the resulting lethal blow to Heartless Hidetsugu is redirected from you, completing a macabre feedback loop that incinerates the rest of the table in a single fiery stroke.
