How it works

1. Cast Battalion Foot Soldier by paying .
2. Animar triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on itself.
3. When Battalion Foot Soldier enters the battlefield, it triggers.
4. Holding priority, activate Phyrexian Altar by sacrificing Battalion Foot Soldier, adding .
5. When Battalion Foot Soldier dies, Mortuary triggers, putting Battalion Foot Soldier on top of your library from your graveyard.
6. Resolve the Battalion Foot Soldier trigger from step 2, searching your library for Battalion Foot Soldier and putting it into your hand.
7. Repeat.

This clever loop lets you endlessly recur a single white mana-producer by leveraging Mortuary's ability to seamlessly return the sacrificed creature straight to the top of your library. From there, Battalion Foot Soldier's enters-the-battlefield trigger tutors another copy (or the same one) back into your hand, while Phyrexian Altar provides the sacrifice outlet and mana needed to replay it. Meanwhile, Animar, Soul of Elements acts as the ultimate engine: every iteration of casting the creature adds a +1/+1 counter and permanently reduces future casting costs, eventually making the Foot Soldier completely free to cast and generating an infinite storm count along the way.
