How it works

1. Activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing Promised Kannushi, adding CC.
2. When Promised Kannushi dies, its soulshift ability triggers, returning itself from your graveyard to your hand.
3. Activate Stonework Packbeast by paying 2, adding .
4. Cast Promised Kannushi by paying .
5. Repeat.

By using Ashes of the Fallen to name "Spirit," every creature card in your graveyard—including Promised Kannushi itself—gains that creature type, which is what allows Promised Kannushi's Soulshift 7 ability to target and retrieve itself from the graveyard upon dying. Ashnod's Altar provides the colorless mana to sacrifice Promised Kannushi and subsequently fund its casting, while Stonework Packbeast converts that colorless mana into the green mana required to cast the Kannushi again. Together, this looping cycle generates infinite death, entry, and sacrifice triggers, making it a powerful engine in Commander, Legacy, Oathbreaker, and Vintage.
