How it works

1. Activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing Promised Kannushi, adding CC.
2. When Promised Kannushi dies, its soulshift ability triggers, returning itself from your graveyard to your hand.
3. Activate Gemstone Array's first ability by paying 2, putting a charge counter on it.
4. Activate Gemstone Array's second ability by removing a charge counter from it, adding .
5. Cast Promised Kannushi by paying .
6. Repeat.

This clever loop uses Ashes of the Fallen to redefine the rules of the graveyard, choosing "Spirit" so that every creature card resting there gains the creature type needed to fuel Promised Kannushi's Soulshift 7 ability. Once Promised Kannushi is sacrificed to Ashnod's Altar for two generic mana, its dying trigger lets it return itself straight from the graveyard back to your hand. You can then funnel that mana into Gemstone Array to store and filter your energy into the exact green mana needed to cast Promised Kannushi all over again, creating an endless cycle.
