How it works

  1. Activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing Promised Kannushi, adding CC.
  2. When Promised Kannushi dies, its soulshift ability triggers, returning itself from your graveyard to your hand.
  3. Activate Gemstone Array's first ability by paying 2, putting a charge counter on it.
  4. Activate Gemstone Array's second ability by removing a charge counter from it, adding G mana.
  5. Cast Promised Kannushi by paying G mana.
  6. Repeat.

This loop relies on Conspiracy to rewrite creature types across the entire game, turning Promised Kannushi into a Spirit no matter where it goes—crucially allowing its own Soulshift 7 trigger to target itself in the graveyard upon death. Once Ashnod's Altar converts that sacrifice into two generic mana, Gemstone Array acts as a crucial color-filtering engine, spending that colorless energy to store and filter charge counters into the single green mana required to recast Promised Kannushi. By feeding the loop back into itself indefinitely, you continuously sacrifice and replay the same creature to generate an unbounded storm count alongside endless entry, exit, and death triggers.
