How it works
- Activate Orthion's second ability by paying 6 and tapping it, creating five token copies of Patron of the Arts with haste.
- When the Patron of the Arts tokens enter the battlefield, they trigger, creating five Treasure artifact tokens.
- Activate Phyrexian Altar five times by sacrificing the Patron of the Arts tokens, adding 2.
- When the Patron of the Arts tokens die, they trigger, creating five Treasure artifact tokens.
- Activate seven Treasures by tapping and sacrificing them, adding 7.
- Activate Orthion by paying 3 and untapping it, giving it +2/+2 until end of turn.
- Repeat.
- Once you have infinite mana, you may instead target any other creature you control.
This intricate loop hinges on Orthion, Hero of Lavabrink’s mega-activation to flood the board with five token copies of Patron of the Arts. Because Patron of the Arts generates a Treasure token both when it enters and when it dies, sacrificing those tokens to Phyrexian Altar yields a windfall of mana and extra artifacts. You can then use Umbral Mantle—costing just {0} to equip—to turn that generated mana into an endless stream of untaps for Orthion, fueling the entire cycle from the top.
