How it works

1. Cast the artifact by paying 0.
2. Toph, Hardheaded Teacher triggers, earthbending Dimir Aqueduct.
3. Resolve the artifact spell.
4. Activate Thaumatog by sacrificing Dimir Aqueduct.
5. When Dimir Aqueduct dies, Toph, Hardheaded Teach triggers, returning Dimir Aqueduct from your graveyard to the battlefield tapped.
6. When Dimir Aqueduct enters, it triggers, returning the artifact cast in step 1 from the battlefield to your hand, as it's a land due to Toph, the First Metalbender.
7. Resolve the Thaumatog ability

This clever loop transforms a humble zero-mana artifact into a perpetual motion machine by turning it into a land through Toph, the First Metalbender's static ability. When you cast your artifact, Toph, Hardheaded Teacher earthbends Dimir Aqueduct, setting the stage for Thaumatog to sacrifice that land to pump its power. Because Dimir Aqueduct is also an artifact thanks to Toph, the First Metalbender, its own bounce trigger targets the artifact you just cast—returning it to your hand so you can replay it endlessly while the Aqueduct safely returns itself from the graveyard via Toph, Hardheaded Teacher's earthbend clause.
