How it works

  1. Cast Anikthea from your hand or from the command zone by paying 2W manaB manaG mana plus commander tax, if applicable.
  2. When Anikthea enters the battlefield, it and Life Finds a Way trigger.
  3. Resolve the Anikthea trigger, exiling Oblivion Ring from your graveyard and creating two token copies of it that are 3/3 Zombies.
  4. When the Oblivion Ring tokens enter the battlefield, their first abilities trigger.
  5. Resolve the first Oblivion Ring trigger, exiling Anikthea until the Oblivion Ring token leaves the battlefield.
  6. Resolve the second Oblivion Ring trigger, exiling the first Oblivion Ring token.
  7. When the first Oblivion Ring token is exiled, Anikthea returns to the battlefield from exile.
  8. When Anikthea enters the battlefield, it and Life Finds a Way trigger.
  9. Resolve the Anikthea trigger, choosing not to exile anything.
  10. Resolve the Life Finds a Way trigger, creating two token copies of the Oblivion Ring token.
  11. Repeat from step 4.

This clever loop transforms Anikthea, Hand of Erebos into a recursive engine by repeatedly exploiting Oblivion Ring's enter-the-battlefield trigger to blink your commander in and out of exile. Parallel Lives supercharges the token creation by doubling every copy generated, while Life Finds a Way translates each creature's arrival into a cascade of additional populates. Because Anikthea's trigger allows you to simply decline to exile anything once the loop is fully underway, you can sustain the sequence indefinitely to flood the board with an endless army of creature tokens.
