How it works

1. Activate Bartolomé del Presidio by sacrificing Twilight Shepherd.
2. When Twilight Shepherd dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
3. Hardened Academic triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on Twilight Shepherd.
4. Resolve the Bartolomé del Presidio ability.
5. Repeat.

This elegant loop harnesses Twilight Shepherd's persistence and entry triggers to fuel an engine of sacrifice and resurrection. By feeding the shepherd to Bartolomé del Presidio, you trigger a death that brings the creature back via persist with a -1/-1 counter, while simultaneously fueling Hardened Academic's static tracking of cards leaving your graveyard.
